Assistant to the Managing Director (Head of Data Science Academy)

As our organisation continues to see rapid expansion we are now looking to hire an assistant to the managing director to join our team. Your role will see you engaging with and assisting DataU management team, our cohorts and liaising with all team members across MBD and DOM when necessary. You will focus on supporting the team and look out for process automation opportunities.

You should be able to think creatively, be proactive, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be fluent in both English and Khmer (written and conversational) and be an effective problem solver. Experience as an admin or support officer/ equivalent Customer Service experience in a similar role is strongly desired.


  • Assist DataU management team with day to day activities such as sending emails, telephone, connect on social media with various partners and key stakeholders

  • Support with answering current cohort’s questions

  • Liaise with various team members across DataU, MDB, DOM to ensure effective communication across departments

  • Liaise with operations team to ensure effective collaboration

  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement effective processes and automate them

  • At times, you might be require to write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products and/or services

  • You might be required to screen CV, book interviews and ensure effective communication

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders which includes: management team, alumni network, current and prospective trainees and their families

  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required.

  • Maintain records of correspondences and key communication activities

  • Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to management.

  • Photocopy and print out documents on behalf of other colleagues


  • Proven admin or assistant experience

  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures

  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills (desirable: Khmer speaking skills)

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

  • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast paced environment

  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Proficient IT skills

  • Understand email best practices and familiar with main social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.

  • Adaptability and flexibility

  • Strong communicator who works well independently and within a team

  • Proactive problem solver who seeks to mitigate risks and addresses challenges before they develop into problems
